The clam digging crew: Melissa and Jed Weight, Jared and Lacey, Ryan Rampton, and Carter Grizzly Green. We left as the sun was setting (alaska time: 10 or 11pm) and headed to the Rampton's cabin. After smores in the wood stove, a fierce game of risk, and a large bag of peanut m&m's, we headed to bed just in time to get up about two hours later. And with a hearty breakfast of carrot cake and whatever else we could find in the car, the crew prepared for the great clam chase. We got lots of clams and got wet and muddy in the process, but
really, what's a great trip without gettin' a little dirty?
We had the shovels, and sucker tools, but sometimes it was just easier (and a lot more fun) to use the tools to dig the hole and then chase the clams through the mud with your hands. They're slippery little suckers!
The clams were good too. Melissa made an amazing chowder and so did Lace. YUMMY!! Totally worth the work and the fun!!!
